4.19.2025-Holy Saturday
As we are nearing the end of Holy Week, as I write this in the quietness of Holy Saturday, I can’t help but think of Jesus on the way to the Cross. His Cross. That He took up FOR us. The pain that He endured. The steps that He walked. The strength that He accepted for the Father to go down this road. For us. Though our Cross is nothing comparable to the one our Lord carried. He chose us to carry it. What an honor to be chosen by Him for this road. We are so blessed and excited for this next part of our life. Lord help us carry our Cross with grace. Lord help us each step of the road.

We attended adoption training last Friday and Saturday and it was truly wonderful. As we talked and prayed on our way to Baton Rouge, our one prayer was that it would not be overwhelming. The Lord was there. We were open, listened, talked and shared. It was a beautiful experience to hear different stories and think about ways we may want to do things differently. Even things we may want to do similarly that we saw brought positive relationships in return. We have talked to many others on adoption, and our idea of what this process was going to look like was pretty accurate. For that, we are grateful!
Cole was going into the training with an idea of a closed adoption being a good approach. My thinking was being completely open, about it all. I didn’t know what that would look like but that was the how it would go. We learned and watched, how holding in emotions and not being opening can have a profound effect. We also considered how being too open from the beginning could change and then cause someone to go against their word. We were able to meet in the middle. Isn’t that how this is supposed to work right? We have to be in the same page or we’ll be out order.
We are not just adopting a baby, we are adopting a person. Someone who the Lord has chosen us to mold into who He wants them to be! This child of ours, will have a story, just like we all do, and it is their story. As we continue to go through this process I will and want to be as open as I am able but there will be some things that we ask your respect in keeping some things personal. What a gift to be able to have a hand in Gods plan for another. What an honor and important role we are about to take on. What a GIFT!
The Lord worked on us through this weekend. He showed us how to communicate and to be open to whatever He has in store for us. We ask for you to continue keeping us in your prayers and we now move on the next step, the details. We will be making important decisions and changes in what we believe are best for our family.
